1893: "Church" Street in Havelock

1893 was a big year for the small town of Havelock, Nebraska. Havelock was incorporated as a city that year, and two churches were built catty-cornered from each other at the intersection of 61st and Howard Street (now Morrill Avenue): United Methodist on the southwest corner and St. Patrick's on the northeast. Sometime before 1908, another church was built at the other end of the block, on the southwest corner of 62nd and Howard (or Morrill). The name of that church is as yet unknown, but it remained there until around the 1940s. Later, a fourth church appeared, Havelock Christian Church, on what is now the property of Mahoney Manor. Is it any wonder that this street was nicknamed "Church" street?
