C-AS DEC2015 Meeting Minutes

St. Patrick's Altar Society

December 2015 Meeting Minutes                                        Attendance: 20 members

St. Patrick's Altar Society December meeting opened with a prayer. The minutes from November were not available for sharing with the members. The only correspondence was an invite to the Carole Fest, A Benefit for St. Gianna Women's Homes. The Treasurer's report for November was distributed and approved.

The president informed the members that the Alb we approved to purchase for Fr. Schweiger for his 20th Anniversary of Ordination is going to cost more than the expected $400. The actual cost is approximately $700. A motion was made and approved to cover the additional costs.

Fr. Schweiger gave an update on the construction. The bell tower is almost complete and should be open in a couple of weeks and that should finish all the contracted work. There is still a lot of work to do for Father and the parishioners though. He thinks they should have everything finished next August. He stated that the workers should be starting on the social hall soon and that they will be harvesting five more trees. Father also shared his concern about the vendor for the new tabernacle. The vendor seems unable to provide a tabernacle that meets the design and specs that the building committee provided. Father asked all the members for their prayers. And Father spoke a little bit on Advent, asking all the ladies to use this special season to prepare for the birth of our Lord, and not just hurry through it to get to Christmas.

Eileen W. shared a fun handout with the group that reminded everyone of the Love of God. Debbie W noted that a short legislative session will be starting January 5, 2016. A count of over 6500 Best Choice labels was shared with the group. The Treasurer notified the group that the Quilt Raffle sales were at $1200, with hopefully a few more to be sold at the Bake Sale December 6. The President announced that Melissa Brumond has agreed to be the Altar Society President for the next term and her daughter, Maggie, will be the Vice-President. The Installation of Officers will be held at the January meeting.

The countertop committee brought in samples of quartz countertops and the members voted on which color to install in the new social hall. Father brought samples of the 2 tones for the cabinets and a sample of the rug to help determine the best color choice. The majority of votes was received for the aluminum quartz. The committee will contact the vendor to notify them of the decision and Diane will contact a plumber regarding the sink, faucet and disposal.

January's meeting will be the installation of officers, followed by the Christmas Party. Pat W has volunteered to provide the turkey and all the members are asked to bring a side dish to share. Members are also asked to bring a white elephant gift for the gift exchange and an item that commemorates a first in their lives. In lieu of donations to an outside charity at the Christmas Party, it is requested that the members donate monetarily for items for the new social hall this year. Diane plans to invite all ladies of the parish to the installation and party during the Masses on January 2 and 3. The meeting ended with a prayer and desserts.
