C-AS October2014 Meeting Minutes

St. Patrick's Altar Society

October 2014 Meeting Minutes                                        Attendance: 22 members

Jodi Finch from Roper & Sons started the October St. Patrick's Altar Society meeting in the rectory basement with a presentation titled Time Management VS Energy Management. Then the members joined in prayer. The minutes from September were read, a slight correction to a date was made, and then the minutes were approved. The Treasurer's September report was distributed to the members and approved.

MaryJo L. gave an update on recent construction activities on the new church. She also told the group how much the workers have been enjoying the cookies and treats and stated that they would certainly appreciate more.

The Commissions reporting this month were Family Affairs, Legislative, and Organizational. Diane N. reminded the group that the Diaper Drive would continue through the month of October and asked for their support. Debbie stated that the first Tuesday of November is fast approaching and urged everyone to get out and vote! Eileen W. distributed the Fall 2014 Leadership Report which requested members to send photos of areas in their lives where they see God.

Several areas of Old Business were covered. A count of 3806 Best Choice labels was shared with the group. Happy Birthday was sang to Lois M. and she thanked everyone who helped her celebrate her birthday with cards or by attending the party held in St. Patrick's gym. The members were reminded of the Craft Fair on Saturday, October 11. Sign-up sheets for workers to sell baked goods during the fair were passed around and members were asked to donate baked goods for the fundraising event. The members were notified that the church kitchen had been successfully cleaned out by several members in September. A quick update on the status of the quilt raffle was given. The quilt would be displayed and raffle tickets would be sold during the Craft Fair alongside the baked goods. A committee was formed to research, investigate and determine the direction the group should go regarding the new altar linens. The committee members are Kathy W., Eileen W. and Kathy K. Due to the change in the Commission Structure for the LDCCW, lists of the commissions were distributed and the members were asked to pray and to consider accepting one of the commissions.

There were also several areas of new business covered. The Pro-Life talk on October 19 was recommended. The group's non-event fundraiser will be held the first weekend of December and will be headed by Kathy and Eileen this year. It was confirmed that the small quilt would be the group's donation to the upcoming STARS event. The schedule for the leading of the rosary for the month of October was passed around and members were asked to consider leading the rosary sometime during the month. And Father wrapped up the meeting by confirming that the members would not need to clean the old church after February 1, 2015.
