C-AS SEP2015 Meeting Minutes

St. Patrick's Altar Society

September 2015 Meeting Minutes                                        Attendance: 22 members

September's St. Patrick's Altar Society meeting opened with a prayer. The minutes from August were read, and after a couple of minor changes, were approved. There was not any correspondence to share with the group. The Treasurer's report for August was distributed and approved.

Fr. Schweiger gave an update on the long list of remaining items still needing to be completed in the new church building, even though the dedication happened last month. He reminded everyone that this is a work in process and stressed the need for patience from all the parishioners. He also communicated to the group that once he goes through the punch list with the builders in a couple of weeks, he should be able to generate a list of suggested cleaning materials for the new surfaces in the church. Father also asked the members to assist with the creation of a set of rules for renting the new Social Hall.

Diane shared with the group that Betty N. has volunteered to continue to clean the same parts of the new church that she cleaned in the old church. And the Roseberrys volunteered to continue cleaning the church floors as well. All the members were very happy to hear that! Eileen W. thought that the cleaning on Saturdays would be mostly dusting with microfiber cloths and dry mopping with dust mops, but she will finalize the cleaning lists after Father provides the suggested cleaning materials from the builders.

A count of 4,857 Best Choice labels was shared with the group. The Altar Society plans to sell sloppy joes and possibly baked goods during the Craft Fair on Sunday, October 25th, from 9-3. Eileen W., Pat W. and Jane N. are heading that effort. Jeanne V. asked the members if we should designate something specific for the proceeds of the quilt raffle. It was decided that the proceeds would go to the new Social Hall expenses. It was suggested and approved that the winner of the raffle would be drawn during the Society's bake sale in December.

As a thank you to the St. John's Altar Society for doing such a terrific job serving at the Dedication reception, the group decided to donate $50 to their Society. Diane N. shared with the group that the Deanery Meeting on Tuesday, September 29, at 7 p.m. will be held at St. Patrick's. Father will be giving the group a tour of the new church. Diane will be looking for volunteers to provide and serve dessert and coffee.

Kathy W. provided a proposed layout of the cabinets for the new Social Hall. It was suggested that the Society have a Rep from Custom Cabinets, or a similar company, attend our next meeting to present ideas and options. Melissa B. volunteered to contact a cabinet company. The meeting ended with a prayer and delicious desserts.
