1893: Architectural Style of First Church

This account continues the history of St. Patrick's parish that was found in the Time Capsule from 1908. it is reprinted here just as it was written in that account.

The church is built in the Gothic style, is 35 x 60 feet, that including the sacristy which is 12x15 feet has a spacious sanctuary containing the nicely decorated altar, a gallery for the choir, the seating capacity of the pews is about 200. The whole cost of the building and furnishings the church together with the lots bought amounts to about $3,800.00. The altar cost $205.20 ($155.85 of which was collected by the women and young ladies of the congregation) The statue of St. Patrick on the altar cost $25.00 and was presented by Mrs. Ellen Shae. The stations of the Way of the Cross cost $20.00 and was presented by Mrs. McDevitt as was also the organ. (Continued)
